UMEGA IS AN EDINBURGH SUCCESS STORY
We've been managing, repairing and maintaining thousands of properties in Edinburgh for almost 20 years. The company was founded in 2007 by two friends, Neil & Andy, and the business remains fully independent to this day. Umega started as a letting agency and we quickly established ourselves as one of the leading letting agencies in the UK on the back of a simple but rare approach of looking after people. Managing and repairing properties, especially in a city as historic as Edinburgh, can be an eventful business so with whatever we encounter, we look after people, our customers and employees, above all else. Through our years of experience of repairing and maintaining the thousands of properties in our care, we’ve recruited a fantastic team of maintenance technicians and built a superb network of additional maintenance contractors. We’ve grown our team to help thousands more home owners in the Edinburgh area maintain their properties and get home repairs off their to-do lists.Our excellent team of technicians supported by our world class customer service team is what makes Umega Home Repairs such a popular addition to Umega’s other property services.
All of our Technicians are PVG checked, and are qualified to carry out Portable Appliance and Legionella Certifications - required for both long and short term rentals. We can coordinate a broad range of works from the skill base across our team, and we’re happy to assist you with any job - large or small!
MEET THE TEAM
Peter Macdonald
Maintenance Coordinator
Peter joined Umega in summer 2021, initially working within the property compliance department of our lettings team, before taking up a role with Umega Home Repairs team in 2022. Peter is our admin-extraordinaire; coordinating all of the enquiries and work orders we receive, and ensuring our team runs productively. Peter handles all customer enquiries, and coordinates work between all of our technicians to ensure your repairs are handled as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.

Derek Rout
Maintenance Technician
Derek has been part of the Umega team since January 2020. He joined us with a wealth of maintenance experience in both residential and commercial environments. Derek can cover a range of general maintenance and DIY works such as general plumbing, minor electrical works and basic joinery.

Mark Henretty
Maintenance Technician
Mark joined the Umega team in early 2023. He has over 15 years’ experience in maintenance roles, working on both residential and commercial properties. Mark’s skills span a broad range across general plumbing, basic electrical works, minor roof repairs, cast iron and UPVC guttering repair and maintenance, basic joinery, and general DIY jobs.

Ryan Harrison
Maintenance Technician
Ryan has worked with Umega since 2021 and is a qualified joiner with a broad range of experience across general repairs and maintenance too. Ryan can assist with all joinery work such as flooring, doors, and kitchen fitting, as well as taking care of basic electric and basic plumbing issues and other general DIY/maintenance works.

David Funnell
Senior Maintenance Technician
Dave has worked for Umega for the last 8 years, starting as a Maintenance Technician for our rental properties, before taking on a senior role in the team. Dave has a wide variety of skills thanks to his broad experience within Umega and beyond. He has carried out a number of kitchen and bathroom refurbishments for Umega customers, and can also assist with a variety of home repairs from DIY work, to general plumbing, minor electrical repairs, and basic joinery.

Maintenance Technician
Gaspar joined team Umega in 2018 from a varied background across repairs and maintenance in both residential and commercial environments. Gaspar has a broad skill set and can cover a range of maintenance work, including; general maintenance/DIY, painting/decorating, and basic plumbing, as well as being a skilled tiler and plasterer.

Joining us in October 2023, Nadine brings a wealth of expertise as our dedicated Painter and Decorator. With a commendable level of experience in various maintenance tasks, Nadine has quickly become an indispensable member of our team. Her skill set extends beyond painting and decorating, comprising a variety of maintenance work. Nadine's meticulous attention to detail, creative flair, and commitment to delivering high-quality craftsmanship make her an integral part of our mission to provide exceptional home repair services.

Do I need to supply materials?We can supply all materials required however if you have specific items you wish us to use or install, such as a specific shower screen, tap, tiles, mirrors to be hung or furniture to be built, that's no problem at all; we'll work with this!

When do I pay for your Edinburgh handyman services?Once the work has been completed and you confirm you're happy with everything we'll then send you an invoice for payment by BACS. we want to make sure you're completely happy with our work and our service before asking for payment.
