All of our team are PVG checked, and our handyman technicians are qualified to carry out Portable Appliance and Legionella Certifications - required for both long and short term rentals. We can coordinate a broad range of property maintenance and repairs work from the skill base across our team, and we’re happy to assist you with any job - large or small!
Peter Macdonald
Peter joined Umega in summer 2021, initially working within the property compliance department of our lettings team, before taking up a role with Umega Home Repairs team in 2022. Peter is our admin-extraordinaire; coordinating all of the enquiries and work orders we receive, and ensuring our team runs productively. Peter handles all customer enquiries, and coordinates work between all of our technicians to ensure your repairs are handled as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.
Dave Funnell
Dave has worked for Umega for the last 8 years, starting as a Maintenance Technician for our rental properties, before taking on a senior role in the team. Dave has a wide variety of skills thanks to his broad experience within Umega and beyond. He has carried out a number of kitchen and bathroom refurbishments for Umega customers, and can also assist with a variety of home repairs from DIY work, to general plumbing, minor electrical repairs, and basic joinery. Dave is based in Fife so is well-placed to cover repairs across Fife, Edinburgh and West Lothian.
Derek Rout
Derek has been part of the Umega team since January 2020. He joined us with a wealth of maintenance experience in both residential and commercial environments. Derek can cover a range of general maintenance and DIY works such as general plumbing, minor electrical works and basic joinery. Being an Edinburgh local, Derek knows the city like the back of his hand!
Gaspar Garcia
Gaspar joined team Umega in 2018 from a varied background across repairs and maintenance in both residential and commercial environments. Gaspar has a broad skill set and can cover a range of maintenance work, including; general maintenance/DIY, painting/decorating, and basic plumbing, as well as being a skilled tiler and plasterer. Gaspar grew up in Spain, but has lived and worked in Scotland for a number of years now.
Josue Calzacorta
Josue joined Umega in 2022, bringing many years of broad experience in construction, refurbishments, repairs and maintenance across both home and office environments to our team. He is a multi-skilled technician who can cover a variety of home repairs from basics such as; building furniture and hanging curtain rails, to full kitchen and bathroom refurbishments, and is a skilled tiler, plumber, and plasterer. Josue hails from The Basque Country, although his work has taken him all over the world, before he settled in Edinburgh.
Maciej Walachowski
Maciej has been part of the Umega team since 2017, bringing a broad skill set from a number of years working in maintenance roles in both residential and commercial environments. Maciej is a skilled technician who can carry out a wide variety of general DIY and property maintenance from fixing locks to plumbing problems, as well as painting and bathroom refurbishments. Maciej was born and raised in Poland, but has enjoyed life in Edinburgh for many years.
Mark Henretty
Mark joined the Umega team in early 2023. He has over 15 years’ experience in maintenance roles, working on both residential and commercial properties. Mark’s skills span a broad range across general plumbing, basic electrical works, minor roof repairs, cast iron and UPVC guttering repair and maintenance, basic joinery, and general DIY jobs. Mark is based in Fife so is well-placed to cover repairs across Fife, Edinburgh and West Lothian.
Ryan Harrison
Ryan has worked with Umega since 2021 and is a qualified joiner with a broad range of experience across general repairs and maintenance too. Ryan can assist with all joinery work such as flooring, doors, and kitchen fitting, as well as taking care of basic electric and basic plumbing issues and other general DIY/maintenance works. Ryan is based in West Lothian, so is ideally placed to cover work across Edinburgh and the Lothians.
